God's two guiding lights....
Duo Lux Dei Dirigit
This is the image of an antique wax letter seal. It is an early seal and dates from the late 1700's. It features the image of an eagle holding a sword aloft.
The banner at the bottom features a banner with the Latin Phrase 'Duo Lux Dei Dirigit'.
This translates to 'God's two guiding lights'.
In the Bibles the two Guiding lights of God are ' Love God and love your neighbour'.
These are the two most important guides that God gave us to live our best lives.
In Heraldry because of its ability to soar upwards, the Eagle represents Resurrection, Salvation and Redemption.
Traditionally in Christianity the sword represents the word of God.
So the complete message in this seal is: to obtain redemption and salvation follow the Word of God and the most important Guides given to us are ' Love God and Love your Neighbour'.
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

The pendant itself measures just over 20mm across the centre, and and 30mm across the length (not including the jumping) . This can alter slightly however due each piece being made individually by hand.
Each link and jump ring has been soldered with sterling silver solder, so you don't have to worry about loosing your piece.

Wax Seal Jewelry......
Each piece offered for sale is an imprint or cast of an antique wax seal from my personal collection. I use 100% sterling silver as this has the strength and durability needed for a piece of jewelry that is to be worn for years. All the jumps rings, clasps etc, are also sterling silver and each part is soldered, also for strength and durability. My intention is to make a piece that could become an heirloom too and for it to last generations.
Each piece is individually handmade and therefore no two pieces will be exactly the same, they will however be extremely similar. The mark of the maker has been purposely left on the casts. The signs of age, cracks and tool marks all add to the charm of the piece and are an intentional feature.
