Ad utrumque paratus....
Ready for either alternative/ prepared for both.
This is a sterling silver cast of an Antique Wax Seal from circa 1780. This seal features an heraldic shield with the Latin phrase ‘ad trumque paratus’. This phrase is attributed to the Roman poet Virgil and translates to ‘prepared for either alternative’ or ‘prepared for both’.
This tells us to be always ready for each outcome... good or bad. To allow the fates to send what they will, but the bearer will always be prepared.
The pendant was cast in 100% sterling silver and has a nice weight for it's size. It has been oxidized to highlight the details in the antique design and hand polished for a aged patina.
Size..........
The 'Ad trumque paratus Charm measures approx. 17.7mm across the centre.
This might alter slightly from piece to piece as each one is made individually by hand.

Wax Seal Jewelry......
Each piece offered for sale is an imprint or cast of an antique wax seal from my personal collection. I use 100% sterling silver as this has the strength and durability needed for a piece of jewelry that is to be worn for years. All the jumps rings, clasps etc, are also sterling silver and each part is soldered, also for strength and durability. My intention is to make a piece that could become an heirloom too and for it to last generations.
Each piece is individually handmade and therefore no two pieces will be exactly the same, they will however be extremely similar. The mark of the maker has been purposely left on the casts. The signs of age, cracks and tool marks all add to the charm of the piece and are an intentional feature.
