This is an impression of an antique wax letter seal which dates from the mid 1700s. Although this is a Tassie seal and was made in the 1700’s it features the medieval seal of Robert the Bruce, Lord of Annandale.
Robert the Bruce (1274-1329) was king of the Scots from 1306 until his death in 1329. Robert was one of the most famous warriors of his generation and eventually led Scotland during the first war of Scottish Independence against England. He fought successfully during his reign to regain Scotland’s place as an independent country and is now revered as a national hero. Mel Gibson famously depicted Robert the Bruce in the movie ‘Braveheart’.
The seal features the image of a warrior on horseback (Robert the Bruce.) in Latin around the edges it states Esto : Ferox :
Vt : Leo. This translates as “Be as fierce as a lion’.
This seal reminds us of the warrior within. The ability to harden oneself against fears and self doubts and to fight for what we believe in.
This seal is photographed with the 2.4mm chain, but buying the amulet only is also an option.
This amulet on its own weights 16.7 grams and measures 32mm across the center (these measurement my vary slightly as each amulet is made individually by hand).
