Solid 9 carat gold. Not plated, not hollow, not vermeil.
This is an impression of an antique wax letter seal. It one of my oldest seals and it dates from the 1400’s. It is still incredibly crisp and the Latin text can clearly be read ‘lel ami avet’. This translates to ‘you have a loyal friend’. The imagery in the centre is two clasped hands. There is a small bird of peace perched above the clasped hands. This seal fills me with awe. It was carved carefully by human hands 600 years ago. The sentiment is still as relevant today as it was then. But the changes in the world have been enormous. One things hasn’t changed though and is the importance of a loyal friend.
