Stand Sure! ocean seafarer themed heraldry pendant.
This pendant was cast from an antique wax seal stamp from the 1800's. These were used to seal letters and correspondence and come in a huge variety of designs.
This seal features imagery with an Ocean and seafaring theme....
It is rich in symbolism and meaning. It dates from the 1830's and would have belonged to a well traveled person with a sea going heritage.
The imagery includes Seashells which is an emblem of a seafarer.
A divers helmet represents protection.
The Horse and Trident represent Poseidon who is the God of the Oceans.
The ship is an emblem of joy, happiness and adventure in heraldry.
The banner at the bottom of the seal states 'Stand Sure'. It is unusual to have an English motto here but wonderful to find.....
This seal measures 20.5mm (.8") across the widest point.
The second to last pictures features this pendant and its matching 'Poseidon's horse pendant'. this is not included in this listing, but can be found in the shop.
The last picture demonstrates the difference between the 1.4mm chain and the 2.4mm chain that can be chosen with this pendant.
Your pendant will come wrapped in tissue in a small cotton draw string bag, which is also great for storing the piece when not in use.
