A Victorian inspired bookchain or collar. Made with the chunkiest rolo chain that I could find. I wanted the necklace to be weighty and luxurious.
It features a solid sterling rolo/belcher chain. The links are 6mm in diameter and the wire itself used to make the chain is 1.2mm. The length of the necklace is approx. 19”. It closes with a lovely chunky bolt clasp. This is also sterling silver.
Hanging from the bolt is a beautiful handmade lions paw in solid sterling silver.
A lion's paw is a symbol of progress a d achievement, it also symbolized protection and bravery. Templar knights a dog as their shields and body armour with images of lion paws to show their courage and their adherence to the duty of protecting the innocent.
The chain here is 18" and the lions paw measures 40mm x 22mm including the bail. the necklace weighs a total of 48 grams of silver. The back of the paw is stamped with .925 and SWALK.
This is heirloom quality jewellery. Handmade with heart and soul poured into it.
(Belcher chains were named after James Belcher or 'Jem' Belcher (15 April 1781 – 30 July 1811) who was an English bare-knuckle prize-fighter and Champion of All England 1800-1805.)
