Parchment Necklace... Carpe diem..... Seize the Day’! This handmade necklace was inspired by old Parchment. While collecting my seals I often come across old handwritten letters and documents mostly with old red seals attached. They really inspire me and I wanted to somehow incorporate them into my shop. The Latin heraldry and mottos that are often found on my seals and created these necklaces as a homage to Letter writing, old paper, Latin, history, and wisdom. Parchment necklaces are handmade each time so they will all look slightly different and individual.... This parchment necklace says Carpe Diem’ which translates to Seize the Day! An urge to someone to make the most of the present time and give little thought to the future” It is a phrase that originates with The Roman Poet Horace. In Horace the phrase is part of the longer 'carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero', which can be translated as "Seize the day, put very little trust in tomorrow (the future)". The ode says that the future is unforeseen and that one should not leave to chance future happenings, but rather one should do all one can today to make one's future bette Size......... 40mm x 15mm.
