This pendant was cast from an antique wax seal stamp from the 1800's.
These were used to seal letters and correspondence and come is a huge variety of designs, mottos, sentiments, heraldry and proverbs... This is an early seal and dates from the late 1600's to the early 1700's. It features the image of a heart pierced by arrows. The first know depiction of a heart representing romantic love dates to 1250's. The 'wounded heart' indicating lovesickness is depicted by a heart pierced by arrows (Cupid's). Cupid is the God of desire, romantic love, attraction and affection. Therefore to be hit by cupid's arrow was to render the victim 'lovestruck'.
This seal measures approx. 17mm across (these are all hand made individually so this may vary slightly)

The bracelet closes with a lobster clasp. The Amulet and bracelet are both 100% sterling silver and the back of the Amulet is stamped .925 Each link is soldered shut to help prevent losing your SWALK original.
