Anchor cuff This cuff was made from the impression of an antique wax letter seal from my collection. These were used to seal letters in centuries gone by.
This particular seal I have is made of sterling silver, so therefore it is hallmarked. The date of the hallmark is 1811, so I can say without a doubt that this seals dates to the early 1800's.
It features the image of a ships Anchor. The anchor has a banner floating across it that states 'Hope'. Anchors are the symbol of hope and salvation. But they can also represent one that keeps us grounded and stable..... They provide a safe harbour during stormy times and will not let the ship sink or be dashed against the rocks.
This seal was set onto a sterling silver cuff. The cuff is a heavy sterling silver and it had been filed polished and tumbled to give it strength and shine.
The cuff can be bought in different sizes. Depending on your wrist size.... to measure please wrap a soft tape around the narrowest part of your wrist. Then add a 1/2 inch or 1 inch if you like it to be looser.
The cuff can be squeezed gently when on the wrist to ensure an perfect fit. If there are any other seals that you would like added to a cuff, please contact me and i will be delighted to make you a custom order.
