This wax seal pendant is an impression from an antique wax letter seal.
The seal dates from the early nineteenth century. It features the image of a flower with the words 'forget me not' around the edges.
Legend has it that a knight and his lady were walking along a river edge. He was picking a posey of flowers when the weight of his armour caused him to fall into the water. As he was drowning he threw the posey to the lady and shouted 'forget me not'. The flowers were worn by ladies from then on as a sign of enduring and faithful love. This is a lovely sentimental piece of victorian art and was to seal correspondence in the 1800's.......
This pendant charm measures 13.75mm and has a nice solid weight for it's size. This might alter slightly from piece to piece as each one is made individually by hand.
