A lovely sterling silver handmade bracelet in the style of an Antique Albertina chain....
The Albertina is the ladies version of the Albert Watch chain. It is smaller and more decorative than an Albert and mainly worn by Ladies during the Victorian era. Often they are altered and are worn today as beautiful antique bracelets.
This is my take on the Albertina using SWALK seals from my collection to personalise it and give it special meaning. This bracelet is not restricted to these two seals and I can customise it with any two seals of your choosing..... (mostly the price will be the same, but please contact me for a quote)
The seals I have chosen are ‘love struck’ It features the image of a heart pierced by arrows. The first know depiction of a heart representing romantic love dates to 1250's. The 'wounded heart' indicating lovesickness is depicted by a heart pierced by arrows (Cupid's). Cupid is the God of desire, romantic love, attraction and affection. Therefore to be hit by cupid's arrow was to render the victim 'lovestruck'. this amulet is approx 18.. across the centre 'Crowned heart' The crown is the symbol of the highest achievement, the heart represents love, loyalty and kindness.......
Therefore a crown above a heart represents the highest and purest love. This amulet measures approx 11.3mm across The bracelet also features a sterling silver hand charm, and swivel Albert clasp also sterling and a double belcher chain.
(Belcher chains were named after James Belcher or 'Jem' Belcher (15 April 1781 – 30 July 1811) who was an English bare-knuckle prize-fighter and Champion of All England 1800-1805.) The bracelet has a larger belcher chain to act as an extender. The extender ends with a 'SWALK' seal charm. Every element is sterling silver and it is soldered at every link. The standard size for this bracelet is from 19cm to 23cm (extendable) 7.4" to 9" If you require a larger or smaller size i am happy to accommodate you.... please just ask :-)
This bracelet will arrive wrapped in purple tissue in a Linen 'SWALK' draw string bag and with explanation cards to explain the meanings of the seals.
