A Victorian inspired bookchain or collar. Made with the chunkiest rolo chain that I could find. I wanted the necklace to be weighty and luxurious.
It features a solid sterling rolo/belcher chain. The links are 6mm in diameter and the wire itself used to make the chain is 1.2mm. You can choose the length of chain you require during the checkout process. It closes with a lovely chunky bolt clasp. This is also sterling silver.
Hanging from the bolt is the largest seal in my shop. It’s also one of my favorites and I thought the size would be a nice counterbalance to the chunky chain.
It features the Latin phrase ‘possums quia posse videntur’ or ‘They can because they think they can.’ This is a quote from the Roman poet Virgil (70bc -19bc). In order to succeed you first must believe you can succeed.
The image is of a Lion... in heraldry the lion is the symbol for Courage. So the message in the seal is ‘have the courage to believe in yourself’.
The necklace will be presented with an explanation about the seal.
(Belcher chains were named after James Belcher or 'Jem' Belcher (15 April 1781 – 30 July 1811) who was an English bare-knuckle prize-fighter and Champion of All England 1800-1805.)
