Live and die for those we love….
This wax seal pendant was cast from an antique stamp from the 1800's. These were used to seal letters and correspondence and come is a huge variety of designs, mottos, sentiments, heraldry and proverbs... This antique wax seal features the words "Live and die for those we love."
The female pelican was believed to wound her breast with her long, curved bill, drawing blood to feed her young. The term for this is ‘vulning’ itself and there are some birds during the nesting season that grow red feathers upon their breast, which may be where the legend came from. But for this noble act, the bird became a symbol of piety, self-sacrifice, and virtue associated with the Holy Eucharist.
Size....... The pendant measures approx. 15.2mm . This may alter slightly due to the fact that each one is made individually by hand.
